FEATURED ARTIST: CUFF THE DUKE |
Five years ago, a group of 21-year old young men from Oshawa wowed listeners and music critics alike with their "intense" and "timeless" debut album Life Stories for Minimum Wage. Since then, Cuff the Duke has continued to rise. Touring relentlessly from coast to coast, the band has shared the stage with musicians from Blue Rodeo to The Weakerthans, Gord Downie to Zwan. Along the way, there have been a few changes to Cuff's line-up, constant touring, side projects, a solo album by founding member Wayne Petti, and a successful self-titled sophomore release. |
Cuff can also be heard on the upcoming Borrowed Tunes Two, a Neil Young tribute CD featuring an impressive collaboration of Canadian artists. With the re-release of Life Stories in 2007, the band headed back to the studio, focusing on their next album. The resulting Sidelines of the City is hitting stores October 23rd, with a slew of tour dates on its heels. |

Chris Gibbs' Antoine Feval
The year is 1896; Barnaby Gibbs, incurable optimist and Sherlock Holmes fan, is checking on a friend's empty house when he finds a man in the bedroom, dressed entirely in black, holding a bag full of stolen belongings, and trying to write a poem about sapphires. There is only one conclusion a reasonable man could come to: that this is the notorious cat-burglar and con-man known as the Rhyming Bandit.

"Barnaby is near flawless. His martini-dry wit is characteristically sharp, in both script and performance, and his comic timing is beautiful." - CBC

Roxanne Potvin
Roxanne Potvin recalls accidentally catching Jonny Lang on TV and thinking, "man, he is so cool!" And instantly, she was inspired to work overtime to the music of B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Muddy Waters, among others. Now, at 23, Roxanne has been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at the Maple Blues Award and her CD, The Way It Feels, was produced by Grammy-winner Colin Linden. The album includes a cast of support players, such as: Daniel Lanois, Bruce Cockburn, Wayne Jackson (The Memphis Horns) and one of John Hiatt. The Way It Feels is the fulfillment of a dream that started many years ago. It is a major breakthrough for a fresh new voice.
