| FEATURED ARTIST: CORB LUND |
With a CCMA award and a new album out this week, Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans continue galloping full speed ahead on their ride toward international success.
The record, which was produced by Harry Stinson of Marty Stuart's "The Fabulous Superlatives," blends classic country sounds with Corb's unique sense of play and whimsy. Corb proudly shows off his Canadian colors, with song titles referencing Saskatchewan, Alberta and the prairies.
In support of the record, Corb and his cavalry are heading out this fall on an extensive North American tour. Will we see more accolades from this year's CCMA Roots Artist of the Year award winner? Count on it. Visit Corb's website for tour dates. The new album is available now in Canada and September 29th in the U.S.

| AWARD SEASON CONTINUES |

| HANNAH GEORGAS CATCHES THE EYE OF WALMART (AND TAYLOR SWIFT) |
For those heading off to their freshman year at college, these are exciting times. Equally as exciting are the recent events in the career of Vancouver-based Hannah Georgas, whose 30-second jingle featured in Walmart's back-to-school ads has created lively chatter among the web that would make other independent artists envious.
Co-written with Ryan Guldemond (of Vancouver band Mother Mother), the jingle acts as a musical backdrop to a mother dropping her children off at their dorm for their first day of college. Although Georgas only sings two short lines, that was enough to catch the attention of country music superstar Taylor Swift. After seeing the commercial, Swift announced to her 1.1 millions followers on Twitter that the commercial made her cry, starting a frenzy in both traditional and social media.
Though the song is not commercially available, Georgas and Guldemond are working out a full version to be included on her next album, slated for a March release.

Echoes of Ireland
Take the rich comic blarney and guttersnipe grit of Emerald Isle storytelling royalty Frank McCourt and Malachy McCourt, mixed with the The Magic of Ireland's timeless culture of music, song and dance and you have Echoes of Ireland - one helluva Ceili!

Elisapie Isaac
Elisapie Isaac's debut solo recording, There will be Stars, is the highly anticipated follow up release to Taima, the internationally-acclaimed and award-winning duo, which she co-founded in 2001. For this Inuk singer, composer and filmmaker, There will be Stars is not so much an album as a seduction from somewhere distant, somewhere other-worldly.
Grass Mountain Hobos
The Hobos are of another time: a time when pleasure usurped profession and live music provided the soundtrack for excess. This period they bring to life on stages across Canada. With a stage show that harkens back to the days of the traveling salesman, The Hobos are the cure-all elixir for those requiring entertainment.
Leeroy Stagger and The Wildflowers
There are songwriters who find a creative niche and never stray from it; then there are songwriters who choose to continually break down what they are known for and start again from the ground up. Leeroy Stagger is the latter.
Silver Starling
After 15 years of collaborating on recordings, producing, engineering and mastering an innumerable amount of music projects (Dr. Noh, Stars, Torngat, Arcade Fire), Montreal's gentle giant, Marcus Paquin, decided it was time to lock himself in his studio and dedicate himself to his own.
The Wooden Sky
Trying to nail down the disparate genres explored by the Wooden Sky isn't an easy task. When pressed, the band tosses out tags like "folk rock," but the words don't hint at the nuances in their sound. Since 2003, the Toronto collective has been pushing the limits of folk and country, adding pieces of outside influence and slowly growing their own unique sonic aesthetic.
Woodpigeon
Woodpigeon is more than just the most beautiful word in the English language, although that's precisely why it was chosen by songwriter Mark Hamilton as the moniker for his pretty-pop project.
