AND THE AWARD GOES TO...
The stars of Canadian music flocked to St. John's for the 2010 JUNO Awards, and it was certainly a night to remember!
K'NAAN (A) took home two of the night's biggest awards, winning Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. He then closed the show with a rousing performance of his award-winning hit "Wavin' Flag," joined on stage by an all-star Canadian chorus including Drake, Nikki Yanofsky and Justin Bieber.
The Good Lovelies (B) were honored with the Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group award for their self-titled album. Although they released an EP in 2007, this project is The Good Lovelies' first full-length release.
Paquin also congratulates JUNO winners Norman Foote (Children's Album of the Year for Love My New Shirt) and Serena Ryder (Video of the Year for "Little Bit of Red").

FEATURED ARTIST: THE SADIES
Canadian rockers The Sadies will release their new album Darker Circles on May 18. Darker Circles again sees the band partnering with sought-after producer Gary Louris (formerly of The Jayhawks). The veteran Toronto group effortlessly combines country, psychadelia, surf, punk and rock to create their signature genre-spanning sound.
The Sadies are now more intent than ever on making their mark as songwriters. It's an aim that comes naturally, says Travis Good; "It's not conscious. Nothing is planned when it comes to The Sadies. We're just better players and we did more homework this time."
No doubt about it, this is one hard-working foursome! In addition to their many critically-acclaimed studio albums, The Sadies are also well known for their collaborations including those with Neko Case and R&B legend Andre Williams.
With their unique sound and fiery punk energy, catching The Sadies live on stage is an experience that is second to none. Their North American tour kicks off May 21 in London, ON; stops along the way include Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Los Angeles and Denver.

YOUNG ARTISTS FOR HAITI
In early 2010, while the Vancouver Olympics were in full swing, over 50 Canadian musicians joined forces with K'NAAN to collaborate on a charity version of his song "Wavin' Flag." The collective, coined Young Artists for Haiti, includes Paquin artists Esthero, Elisapie Isaac, Chin, Serena Ryder, Corb Lund and K'NAAN himself.
The song debuted at number one on the Canadian Hot 100 and has sold over 80,000 digital downloads since it became available on March 12.
The inspiring project will raise funds which allow Canadian charities to continue their work helping the people of Haiti overcome the devastation from the earthquake that rocked the country in January 2010. "Wavin' Flag" sells for $1.29 via www.youngartistsforhaiti.net with all proceeds benefitting War Child Canada, World Vision Canada and Free The Children.
