Fawn Wood is a Cree and Salish singer, songwriter, and traditional artist whose voice has become a powerful force for cultural pride and resilience across Turtle Island. She is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Native American Music Awards, the Aboriginal People’s Choice Music Awards, the Indian Summer Music Awards, and made history as the first-ever recipient of the JUNO Award for Traditional Indigenous Artist of the Year.

A seasoned performing artist since her youth, Fawn has shared her music on countless stages at festivals and cultural gatherings across North America. Her artistry has also reached global audiences through television, film, and documentary features. She has made guest appearances on screen, including the series Joe Pickett, and was highlighted in Entertainment Tonight Canada’s Indigenous Icons episode, while her recordings continue to be featured in a wide range of productions.

Fawn’s discography includes several acclaimed and award-winning solo albums — Iskwewak, Kikawiynaw, and Kakike — as well as collaborative projects with her partner Dallas Waskahat, Til the End and Blessings. She has also contributed to numerous celebrated recordings with her powwow group, Cree Confederation, showcasing the richness of Cree round dance and powwow traditions.

In addition to her artistry, Fawn has pursued higher education with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Plains Cree Language and a Master of Arts in Indigenous Languages from the University of Blue Quills. Her academic and musical work reflects her lifelong commitment to cultural preservation and language revitalization.

Fawn is also a respected motivational speaker and cultural educator, often sharing her journey as an Indigenous musician and advocate for language in talks across North America. She empowers youth through culture, song, and language, and for three years hosted the hit Alberta radio program The Cree Chatter Hour, which offered free language lessons and cultural teachings to the public.

Whether performing onstage, featured on screen, or speaking in community spaces, Fawn Wood continues to carry forward the songs of her ancestors while creating pathways for future generations to find strength, healing, and identity through music and culture.
