Iam Tongi grew up immersed in the musical tradition of his Hawaiian culture. After his viral cover of “Monsters” became one of American Idol’s all-time highlights, Tongi went on to become the first Pacific Islander to win the show. In 2025 he was tapped by Disney to record the theme song for the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch. 2026 marks a creative transition for the 21-year-old. With his forthcoming debut album, he’s leaning into his musical roots, but also the man he’s become.
