The story of Cyril Kamar (aka KMaro) begins in the 1980s. From a childhood marked by the war in Lebanon - the country where he was born - to the 1990s, when his family emigrated to Montreal, Cyril Kamar has always lived surrounded by music. First lulled by French classic songs, it was in Canada that he discovered urban cultures. He built a solid reputation very early on in the Montreal underground scene after winning several freestyle competitions. His early albums with his first band LMDS were instant success, and at the age of 17, this gifted creative started recording and touring as a professional artist. He founded his production company at the early age of 19 years old , combining label, creative agency and management. For several years, he frequented - between Montreal and New York - breakers, graphers, DJs and little by little learned from the very best of the culture what would become his trademark: a subtle balance between business sense and artistic audacity.

In 2004, his label Kpone Inc Music Group enjoyed international success. Kmaro’s album The Good Life sells more than 5 millions singles ans albums around the world. Powered by the hit “Femme Like U” which has become a reference hit today in the French markets, it topped the charts in more than 18 countries pushing Kmaro’s brand to international recognition .

After 3 albums and a grueling sold-out tour, Cyril Kamar feels the need to get away from the media frenzy. He then devoted himself to the development of a very young artist that he had spotted and who is still unknown to the general public: Shy’m. In just a few years, Shy’m became one of the most influential French artists of her time, with more than two million albums sold. A resounding success, of which Cyril Kamar is both the songwriters, the executive producer and the architect. This success venture made him one of the most sought after music executives in Europe.

Over the years and in his capacity as a talent scout, he has worked with many talents such as Corneille, Fredz, Belly, Vai, 411, Suzuya, Ogee, Skip The Use, Bruno Mars, P, Diddy, Dipset , Cheb Mami, and advises the largest record companies such as Warner Music and Universal on scouting, marketing and creative positioning. Likewise, he is regularly asked to share his know-how with companies in the luxury sector, institutional or major schools such as HEC Paris.

He often goes back to recording in studio for himself and has released several solo projects one of which is the globally acclaimed Kamar & The Bugged Mind Crew released in 2019. A creative masterpiece at the crossroads of music, dance, videography and contemporary art. He collaborated with more than 15 creatives for the collective work including Jonone, Mlle Agnès or global art legend Pierre Soulages.

Aficionados and collector of contemporary art, driven by a past where different artistic fields mixed and overlapped without borders, Cyril Kamar has also worked in the shadows for several years with young painters or young gallery owners to help them in the vision and structuring of their business. Along with his wife and partner Anne Sophie Mignaux Kamar, they decided in 2023 to launch Maison Keï Akai, an art house and artist collective which will be dedicated to supporting and promoting International works and emerging talents. Special feature of this gallery, unique in its kind: the artists will be advised by an entrepreneur who is himself an artist, Cyril Kamar.

2024 will be an important one for K. Maro as he and his team will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of The Good Life album as well as the Femme Like U single. He will be touring the world to meet his first days fans as well as the ones who joined along the way, going from Canada to the US, to MEA, Eastern Europe countries, Africa or Europe.
